24 Nov Reflections on my first year with Katherine Elgar
This month, Ortho Consulting Group’s Research Coordinator Katherine Elgar celebrated one year within the business.
Katherine delivers in-depth professional reports and reviews, analysis, expert opinion, and proprietary up-to-date local knowledge as part of our research team.
We spoke to Katherine to find out how her role had evolved over the previous year.
What is the most enjoyable element of your job?
“Before I started at OCG, I had minimal experience of orthopaedics and medical devices, so every day presents new opportunities to learn and expand my understanding of how the industry works.
“My role allows me to investigate so many different elements of the industry and I am developing a real understanding of how all the individual components fit together.
There is a wealth of information available, and it is a question of knowing where to look. It is fascinating to be able to pull all the different sources together to present a complete picture on a particular aspect of the industry.
How has your role changed over the past 12 months?
“My role has changed significantly over the last 12 months as I have become much more involved in the running of OCG’s projects as well as helping with the development of in-house reporting systems.“
What project are you most excited about at the moment?
“It’s tough to choose just one as there are so many projects, all with their own focus. We’re developing our internal reporting systems to help OCG grow, which is rewarding to be part of.”
What excites you most about the industry at the moment?
“It feels like an exciting time to be part of the industry as so many new technologies and approaches to orthopaedics are coming through.
“It’s such a rewarding feeling to be part of an industry that is not only heading in so many interesting directions but is also helping to improve people’s lives.
“There is still so much to learn about the industry and I’m excited to explore the next area waiting for me.“
“Katherine has been an instrumental part of the team since she joined,” said OCG M&A, Investment and Research Manager Suzanna Everard. “Her understanding of data, and her ability to uncover information on any required market or discipline has supported our client delivery to ensure a best-in-class service is always received.
“Katherine has been involved across many functions of the business in her first year, including being a huge part of the expansion of our Resources section of the website, which has been bolstered to provide insights across the industry through Market Reports created by Katherine.“
