A detailed and rigorous understanding of the fundamentals of anatomy and biomechanics is vital when working in the orthopaedic and sports medicine fields. 

And if your team are going to be engaging with surgeons on a daily basis, they need to be able to understand their customer’s language to ensure they are better equipped to represent your brand.

That’s where the Core-Med online education platform comes in. Launched by the experienced team behind Life Science Access Academy, Core-Med uses the same industry-leading framework to deliver training that provides users with a logical learner pathway and all the insight they need to enable a meaningful conversation with a surgeon.

Launched earlier this year, the Core-Med offering currently includes a comprehensive knee and biomechanics curriculum that focuses on the bony anatomy, soft tissues and movements of the knee, as well as the patella and extensor mechanism.

A companion curriculum on the fundamentals of hip replacement will be added in early 2022. Course author Andrew Poland has more than 30 years experience in orthopaedics and is an international recognised expert within the field of hip and knee replacement.

Over the past two years he has been developing online training courses for a global orthopaedic supplier using the industry leading Articulate software.

“For most orthopaedic suppliers developing brand training has taken priority over fundamentals,” said Andrew. “Creating fundamentals anatomy and biomechanics courses for non-medically qualified persons by cutting and pasting medical texts just doesn’t work. Producing quality fundamentals courses takes considerable time and investment and both of those commodities are in short supply.

“Face-to-face training is, and always has been expensive and time consuming and in our pandemic-stricken world becoming forever harder to justify. Online has to and can do more.

“At Core-Med, in association with theLife Science Access Academy, we believe that solutions should be easy wins. We believe the information in our courses should be correct and therefore are fully referenced. We believe in certification so each course is followed by an exam.

“The courses are both image and text rich. It should be possible to complete each course in 45 minutes, however most will want to take their time and take notes. The courses are designed to be taken in sequence to give an all-round awareness of the subject area.”
