The Basingstoke Knee Osteotomy Masterclass aims to promote the principles of knee osteotomy surgery and allow patients to keep their own knee joint for longer. It is the only course nationally with live surgery which allows exposure to the joint preservation surgery. This is a hybrid course giving you the option to join us face-to-face or remotely with the ability to interact either way.
The masterclass is expect to help surgeons seeking to explore and learn about basic knee osteotomy surgery and allow them to introduce it to their practice. For experienced surgeons the course expects to address complex osteotomy procedures and the latest innovations. Delegates will be guided through osteotomy techniques utilising saw-bone sessions, lectures, seminars as well as live surgery.
Delegates can expect to be encouraged to join the sponsored breakout lunchtime sessions to expand their knowledge and interact with industry sponsors. The course allows for networking opportunity for faculty and delegates during the drinks reception and course dinner.
Participants can expect lectures and case discussions from renewed faculty and live surgery from theatre for both HTO and DFO. The practical workshops are available to face-to-face delegates only.
Day one of the course is aimed at younger and less experienced surgeons who want to get to drips with the basics of osteotomy and understand how to perform a high tibial osteotomy. The focus is expected to be short lectures to set the scene followed by Live HTO demo, discussion sessions to allow delegates to ask questions about each aspect of the High Tibial Osteotomy surgery, participants will also be shown how to fix the osteotomy and plate section.
Day two is expected to focus more around Femoral Osteotomy and the more complex aspects of osteotomy surgery. It is expected that participants will be shown a live demo of Distal Femoral Ostoeomy from theatre and receive hands on training with a saw bone session where each delegate will carry out a DFO in the ideal training scenario.
