02 Sep Medartis Inc. Announces First Clinical Uses of LapiPrep™ LapidusCorrection and Preparation System

Warsaw, IN, Sept. 1, 2022 – Medartis, a specialized orthopedic company for upper and lower extremity surgery, today announced favorable first clinical uses of its LapiPrep Lapidus Correction and Preparation System. The system is the second legacy Nextremity Solutions, Inc. product to achieve this milestone since the company was acquired by Medartis, Inc. (Basel, Switzerland) in May of this year.

The new Lapidus system allows the surgeon to both correct and continuously adjust all planes of deformity, including the transverse, frontal and sagittal planes, throughout the procedure. The system’s design provides distraction of the joint space during joint prep and the required amount of compression needed before the surgeon proceeds with their preferred form of fixation. Brett Sachs, DPM, performed a hallux valgus case in Denver, CO, and shared the following impressions: “The LapiPrep System worked great and did an excellent job of correcting the multiplane deformity, allowing me to dial everything in and hold the correction,” said Dr. Sachs. “That ability to prepare, compress and ultimately fixate the joint in a variety of ways streamlined the procedure while providing intraoperative flexibility.” Sararendra S. Miranpuri, DPM, also utilized the LapiPrep system while performing a hallux valgus procedure in Oshkosh, WI, and shared his opinion of the system’s performance: “This next generation system is designed to achieve true triplanar correction, all using one device.
