Ortho Consulting Group 2020 Round-Up

2020 has been an unpredictable and challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many businesses, we have had to adapt and change the way we work in response to this, and have continued to work very closely with our clients throughout the pandemic.

Despite having to work ‘virtually’, we have continued to deliver on all our client’s business expectations – successfully building distribution partners, improving their market presence with the expertise of our product managers, placing talent into their executive teams, and providing M&A support. We’ve achieved a lot, but at the same time stayed safe.

Even though this has been an unusual year, we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved, here are some of our 2020 highlights:

Celebrated 10-Years in Business

On the 10th May, we celebrated our 10-Year anniversary.

To celebrate, ten years in business, we had planned a charity gala event with our charity partner, Cancer Ninjas. Unfortunately, we had to cancel these plans due to the pandemic and have rescheduled for the end of next year.

We hope next year we can celebrate with our clients, team and people who have worked alongside us throughout the years.

New Office

At the beginning of the year, we started building works on a much larger office to accommodate our growth and expansion. It’s been a great experience designing the space to fit what we need as a business, create a perfect environment for our team to collaborate, and allow us to broaden our offering to clients with new facilities. In June, the new office was complete.

The new office includes a 4,000 sqft warehouse, training room, two boardrooms, ideas whiteboard room, two large open plan offices, three private offices, lunch break area and reception area.

We can’t wait for our clients to come and visit our office once it is safe to do so next year.

Ortho CG App

In January, we launched the OrthoCG app.

The app was developed with the orthopaedic industry in mind and is a place for the latest news, product distribution opportunities and senior leadership job vacancies.

Since the app launched, it has been downloaded in 37 different countries.

New Offerings

This year, we expanded our offerings and capabilities to include:

Merger and Acquisitions – Supporting companies looking to exit by providing them with suitable strategic buyers, as well as supporting companies actively looking to expand via acquisition.

Investment Support – Identifying suitable financial partners to support the planned transformation and growth for businesses.

UK Responsible Person – We can now act as a UK Responsible Person for manufacturers of orthopaedic and spine products based outside of the UK. The UK Responsible Person carries out specific tasks in relation to the manufacturer’s obligations. This includes documentation check, registration check, audit support, vigilance reporting and registration with the MHRA.

Team Updates

This year we have added four new vital roles to our team to support our expansion.

In March, Emma Harding, PA to Leadership Team, and Andrew Sangster, Product Manager, joined the team.

Emma is responsible for overseeing & managing the smooth running of the office, all PA duties for the leadership team and HR assistance.

Andrew provides technical product management for a selection of our clients.

In August, Suzanna (Suzi) Everard, Commercial Research Executive, joined the team. Suzi is responsible for delivering all project mergers, acquisitions and investment support.

Katherine Elgar, Research Co-Ordinator,is our most recent hire joining the team in November. Katherine provides research support across all functions of OCG.

Clients Projects

We have been delighted to consult for new clients as well as our existing partners in 2020. Our expertise in orthopaedics and spine has meant we have advised our clients on how to navigate forward with building their businesses in 2020 and beyond.

Distribution Management

Even with the pandemic we have managed to secure new distribution contracts for our clients and provide distribution introductions.

Where travel has been limited this year, we have been supporting our clients in other ways.

This year we have provided marketing/sales collateral, product demonstration videos, website design, presentations, webinar management, demonstration kits, legal support and virtual training sessions for distributors.

Executive Search

We have continued to make successful placements into senior leadership teams and field-based roles. Working with existing clients, and also new clients located across the globe.

M&A

We have embraced the expansion of the M&A services we offer, with 3 clients currently on-board either looking to make acquisitions or looking to sell product divisions.

Marketing Update

In December, we put live our new website, which has been updated with all our capabilities and services.

This year, we reached over 3,000 followers on our Ortho Consulting Group LinkedIn page, and now have a combined total of 12,957 followers across the group’s social media channels.

Quote from Matt Woods, Founder

“I am proud of how everyone at Ortho Consulting Group has ensured we adapted and changed in response to COVID this year.
This has meant we have succeeded in achieving our business aims, and have continued to meet our client expectations, and as a result, they are ready to tackle 2021 head-on.
I’m looking forward to 2021 and being able to show the orthopaedic and spine industry how Ortho Consulting Group can surround them with solutions to build and strengthen their sales channels.”
